New Sight Words' Printables!

During the apple unit, Izzie learned several new sight words...on, have, and, had, can.

I found these apple die cuts at the dollar tree!

After Izzie practiced the sight words, I turned them all over, then she randomly drew one at a time. Each time, she would say the word, then dot it on the handout.

Izzie cannot get enough of this activity. She is always so excited to see which sight word is going to get to 10 first!

Roll and Graph Sight Words

Another sight word activity...a new favorite!

Reading simple sentences with new sight words, then matching correct color apple.

The different color apples can be found at Confessions Of A Homeschooler.

Writing simple apple sentences using new sight words and color words, then coloring the apple the correct corresponding color.

Apple Writing

The book of the day was Apple Picking Time.

Enjoy!

Wordless Wednesday: Apples!

Another gorgeous day at the orchard...

We can never get enough apple cider donuts!

Apple Picking Words!

Izzie has been learning to sound out CVC words, during the apple unit, she focused on the --ad family words and --ag family words.

Using the blending mat to sound out the CVC words.

Sounding out, writing, and coloring the apples the corresponding color. Izzie loves doing these types of handouts, mainly she enjoys doing some independent work!

Storytime From A to Z: Ten Red Apples Up On Top

This week at Coop, the Storytime From A to Z letter was "T" and we read the book, "Ten Apples Up On Top".

Before our lesson, we talked about the different types and colors of apples. And, they even had a taste test to determine which apple taste they preferred....Jonagold, Granny Smith, or Golden delicious apples. Izzie's favorite apple is Jonagold, which I'm thankful because we picked a ton at the orchard!

They colored the apple on their Letter T handout to reflect which apple they liked best during the taste test. As I read the book, they colored the Letter T.

Afterward, they began their apple print masterpieces!

As we waited for the paintings to dry, the girls played took turns to see how many apples they could toss in the basket.

Here's our version of the game at home...

Mac was getting a little competitive, so she decided it was easier to get closer to the basket!

Field Trip: Apple Picking

We had an apple pickin' good time with friends up on the mountain!

Learning a lot about the orchard from the educational presentation.

Then, off on the hayride around the orchard! The girls really enjoyed the bumpy ride!

Afterward, we scattered into the orchard to pick a lot of apples!

Taste testing the apples!

We ended the day with apple cider donuts and apple cider!

An excellent way to spend the day with friends and we picked enough apples for a dozen apple pies!

Tot School: Apples!

This week, Mac has been having fun with apples!

We went to the orchard and picked a lot of apples!

Apples have been her favorite snack this week!

Her shelf for the week...

1. A couple of apple lacing activities...wooden apple

2. Lauri Shape and Color Sorter

3. Using tweezers to count out apples or sort apples by color from basket.

4. Lauri Tall Stacker Pegs Building Set in apple colors!

5. 10 Homemade felt apples

She loved reading the book, Ten Apples Up On Top, and trying to place the apples on top of her head!

She also enjoyed tossing the apples into a basket!

Favorite toys of the week:

Melissa and Doug clock puzzle

And cutting with scissors! This girl loves to cut, everything! She would cut all day long, if I allowed her too! As a I mentioned before, flimsy paper frustrates her, so I started giving her craft foam to cut. Well, I found another great "something" for her to cut....left over laminated scraps!! Perfect and not wasteful!

Favorite pictures of the week...
