God Made Me!

After reviewing the days of creation, we took some time to praise God!  We spoke about how God created everyone to be beautifully and uniquely different.  It is truly amazing to think that each one of us is a masterpiece...there is no other person who is exactly like you!

As parents, one of our greatest responsibilities is to create a family environment where our children can feel good about themselves.

After reading this article, I actually wrote this down...

It is within the family that a girl first develops a sense of who she is and who she wants to become.  Parents armed with knowledge can create a psychological climate that will enable each girl to achieve her full potential. Parents can help their daughters avoid developing, or overcome, negative feelings about themselves and grow into strong, self-confident women.

As girls grow and develop, their overall sense of self-esteem and personal worth grows and changes, too.

As a parent of two daughters and a wife of a high school counselor, I can see the great importance of developing good self-esteem traits in young children, both girls and boys.

To praise their unique characteristics, the girls and I read the following books:

In addition, the girls created a self-portrait.

I wanted their self-portraits to be a constant reminder of how God created each of them as his beautiful and unique masterpiece.  I framed the portraits and hung them in their bathroom.

I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way.  What you have done is wonderful.  I know this very well.
