Snow Storm 2013

We've been wishing for a HUGE snowstorm all winter!  Finally, it arrived...all 24+ inches of it!  Yes, that's right, we received 2 feet of snow!

We went to bed on Tuesday night hoping that the meteorologists were going to be right about the snowstorm, as we've been teased several times this winter.  We woke Wednesday morning to a huge amount of snow and no power!  We had a cold day at home, wrapped in many layers of clothes and blankets.  We don't have a generator, so we had to "rough" it with no power.  However, it was a great day to create memories...we played a ton of games!

The girls loved eating cereal for dinner by candlelight!  And, were thrilled to read their bedtime stories with a flashlight.

We were actually reading their bedtime stories when the power came back on around 7:30pm.  However, the girls requested to finish their stories by flashlight because it was "cool".

The following day, the girls finally were allowed to go outside and play!  We didn't let them go the previous day because we didn't have power, which meant NO heat either!

This was our first time ever making homemade snow ice-cream...it was a huge hit!

Snow Ice-Cream Recipe

1 cup of milk, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Mix milk, vanilla, and sugar until sugar is dissolved. Slowly add in snow 4-6 cups until it forms a stiffer consistency...may need to put it in the freezer for a bit. We drizzled chocolate syrup on top and sprinkled mini morsels on top too!
