Pete The Cat

I ♥ our local library!  The staff is fabulous and there is always something happening there!

Mac and I spent our Saturday afternoon at the library with Pete the Cat!

She loved listening to the librarian read various Pete the Cat books!

Then, it was off to play games and make crafts...

Mac's favorite part was the Puppet Show!  She giggled and giggled!  I adore hearing her sweet sounds of laughter!

Throwback Thursday...

I've started to see old pictures surface on Facebook with the title, "Throwback Thursday".  My first thought was this would be a clever way to catch up on old blog posts that never got published!

I have a ton of pictures/ideas that I would love to share on my blog.  However, it doesn't seem appropriate to share Christmas pictures in March or a cute Valentine's Day craft in October!  Well, now it's completely acceptable with "Throwback Thursday"!

I decided I would start with September 2012 until I'm caught up!

For our first edition of "Throwback Thursday", we're heading all the way back to Izzie's 6th birthday!  That's right, I just finished blogging about her 7th birthday, but it seems that last year's birthday never made it to the blog!

It was a "Barbie" theme birthday...

She requested frozen waffles for breakfast.  She made it clear that she didn't like my homemade waffles and preferred the frozen ones!

She decided that she only wanted to open one gift.  She didn't open her other gifts until after dinner!

She was thrilled with her Barbie Walkie-Talkies!

For dinner, we ate at her favorite restaurant, then headed out for ice-cream!

After dinner and dessert, she continued with her other presents.

How quickly the time is passing by! I will be forever grateful that I'm able to spend everyday with this sweet, precious, little girl!

Miss Rumphius Paintings

My girls love to do any type of art!  So, this year, I'm trying to incorporate more meaningful art.

We've been traveling around the world, learning about the 7 continents and 5 oceans.

We read Miss Rumphius and decided to make the world more beautiful by painting our own lupines!

I found our inspiration from Fine Lines

First, we primed our surface with white chalk.

Then, we covered the surface with warm oil pastels.

Next, we painted on the stems and leaves.

Once they were dried, the girls had a blast creating flowers with their fingertips.  They decided on pink and lavender lupines.

With the pink and lavender lupines still wet, they quickly dipped their thumbs into white paint and dotted it on top of each lupine flower.    We opted not to draw the black circles around each flower.

I adore the way their masterpieces turned out!

Of course, I had to make one too!

I'm in the process of looking for a frame that will fit all three paintings, together!  I love decorating our house with homemade masterpieces and can't wait to hang this one in our dining room.

Homemade Accessories for American Girl Dolls

My girls are obsessed with American Girl.  So, it only made sense that Izzie wanted a McKenna gymnastics birthday party!

For the party favors, I decided to make hula hoops and ribbon wands because every little gymnast needs accessories!

I headed to our local Dollar Tree and loaded up on the extra long glow necklaces.

I found a variety of duct-tape at Target in the school supply section.

After assembling the glow necklaces, I carefully wrapped duct-tape around each of them.

 Before picture...

After pictures...

It was such a super simple cute project.  The girls were thrilled with the hula hoops for their dolls!

The ribbon wands were even easier!  I found the star wands at our local Dollar Tree and simply attached ribbon to the end...voila!
