Fun with Mouse Shapes!

A tub of blocks...let the imaginations run wild!

Working very hard to build a castle for the mice to hide in from the cat! I love that they are still playing with the mice from Mouse Count!

Sometimes, I tend to forget about the simplicity of some activities that actually lead to hours of creativity and fun!

Mouse Count Math Activities

Here are some quick and fun math activities to go along with the book, Mouse Count!

I made these snakes from color card-stock, then added a few designs and laminated.

Izzie practiced her measuring skills by counting how many paperclips long the snakes were.

She sorted the snakes by designs/patterns.

Then, by colors!

And, finally by length!

She completed this snake measuring activity (ruler and number stamps) from one of the many Mailbox books that I own...which, gave me the inspiration to create the above snakes!

She practiced her patterning skills (AB, ABB, and ABC).

Mouse Count Snake Patterns

Roll and Color Addition was a huge hit!

Izzie really enjoyed the snake activities, even though, she repeatedly told me, "I do not like snakes! Well, maybe just the cute baby ones!"

Mouse Count Felt Snake and Mice

My girls have been loving all the Ellen Walsh's books, especially Mouse Count. So, to help aid them in their recalling, I made them some story-props...a snake, 10 mice, and a rock! And, of course there's a collecting jar!

This little fella was made from one sock (my husband's) and felt for details.

I quickly sewed the 10 little mice together.

Hours of fun!

Who Stole The Cookies From The Cookie Jar?

We've been reading the book, Who Stole The Cookies From The Cookie Jar?

The following activities are from Kids Soup. I would highly recommend this site! It has a ton of learning resources!

Practicing writing numbers 1-10.

Recognizing the beginning sound "C".

If the picture on the cookie had the beginning sound "c", the cookie was put inside the cookie jar.

Matching numeral to word, then adding correct number of cookies.

Cookie games...

Izzie had a blast playing the cookies games, above and below.

And, she is loving these type of handouts, where she has to find the "hidden" object.

I had Izzie pick a number puzzle piece (1-20) from the cookie jar, say the number, dot the number on the handout, then put it in the correct spot on the puzzle.

Numerical order (1-10), then counting and placing correct amount of cookies under number. Printables can be found here.
