Letter L Activities

This week Mac focused on the Letter "L".  It was a short school week and a super busy week, since it was also her birthday week!  I'm still in shock that my baby is now 4 years old!

Our beautiful birthday girl!

Enjoying several supplemental activities...

Letter "L" crafts from All About Reading.

She LOVES playing Starfall...I would highly recommend More.Starfall too!

Her favorite game these days is Don't Break The Ice

The weather here has been a roller coaster.  We spent Tuesday afternoon at the park...it was 76 degrees!

However, by Thursday morning, we had snow and our weekly Co-Op was canceled!

The girls spent the morning playing games.  They are really enjoying Go Fish and Crazy Faces by Eeboo!  And, of course....drinking hot cocoa!

Storytime From A to Z: Letter L

This particular week at Coop, the Storytime From A to Z letter was "L" and the book was Lunch.
Lunch

After completing the phonics activities included in the book, Storytime From A to Z, the girls completed this lunchbox craft.

They were given a sheet of food to color, cut, and paste their "favorites" for their lunchbox.

The following would work great with this book too.  Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to complete everything.

Preschool: Letter L and Shapes

This week, Izzie has been learning about the letter "L", number "2", sight word "see", and shapes! Her Bible Verse for the unit is from Raising Rock Stars (Letter L).

Science this week...learning about herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores. Detailed post here.

Writing and Phonics...with crafts too!

She is becoming so focused on her "school work" and really enjoys writing! Here she is practicing writing the letter L on her dry-erase board (4 pack/$1 at Target).

Sorting capital and lowercase lollipop letters...printable found here.

We had a fun time picking out books this week for the Letter L. We read several books about llamas and completed a capital L llama craft (more pictures here).

Here's here lowercase lollipop letter "i".

And, for her stART project, she created a lion made from circles!

This week for Math, Izzie focused on writing the number 2, skip counting by 2's, and reviewing shapes.

She learned to skip count by 2's! Printable handout here.

She completed a lot of math workbook sheets this week and LOVED it!!

One of her favorite activities was completing this wipe-off shapes activity book. I appreciate these types of books...she can do the pages over and over again!!

I printed off a traceable shapes page and slid it into a page protector to help her draw the shapes. She's really good at drawing circles and squares by herself.

Completing her shapes pocket chart. These wonderful shape cards can be found here! There are several more shapes that are included, but I chose to have her only focus on square, circle, triangle, and rectangle.

Working on her shelf activities..click here to see this week's shelf activities...all about shapes!

Another simple way to review shapes...

Other activities this week included...

Ballet and Tap lessons!

She had the best time and asks at least 100 times a day, "Is it Saturday, yet?"

Water-color painting with Mac.

Playing Sorry! Her newest favorite game!

My favorite picture of the week!

Izzie is 48 months old

Letter "L" Crafts

This week, Izzie is reviewing shapes and working on the letter "L".

We had a blast reading books about llamas! We read an old favorite, Is Your Mama A Llama?, which Izzie really enjoys! She loves guessing the mama for each animal after listening to the clues. We found two more books about llamas, Llama llama Mad At Mama and Llama llama Misses Mama. Both are super cute rhyming books and have become bedtime favorites this week.

Izzie's capital letter "L" llama...made out of shapes (rectangles, squares, and circles).

And, her lower-case letter "i" lollipop!

Oops! This is what happens when a newly turned 4-year old is given the entire tube of glitter, while, Mommy is hoping to get a great action shot!
