Messy Class: Rainbow Fish

This week at our weekly Coop's Preschool Messy Class,we read The Rainbow Fish and created bright, colorful tissue paper rainbow fish!

The little ones covered the fish template with glue, then carefully placed the tissue paper on top.  I brought in aluminum foil so each fish could have one shiny scale, just like the rainbow fish in the book.

Messy Class: Snow!

Let it snow, snow, snow!  We were expecting 10 inches of snow, but fell 7 inches short!  The girls were super excited to get outside to play, but we had coop for the day.  I promised they could play and play after coop (3:30pm)....however, I didn't expect for it to be in the low 50s for the day and all the snow gone before the end of coop!  Very. Disappointed. Girls.

To celebrate SNOW, my Preschool Messy Class created these adorable snowmen!

I had everything cut and ready to go for them.  I even drew the outline of the snowman.  With twelve preschoolers painting with shaving cream and Elmer's glue (equal parts mixed together)...I knew I needed it to be organized!

They had snow much fun "painting" the snowmen with spoons!

After dressing the snowmen, each was unique and so ADORABLE!!

SNOW much fun!

Messy Class: Play-doh

What is the best kid invention, ever?  Well, as long as it's not in my house....Play-doh!

During our weekly Coop's Preschool Messy Class, the kids had so much fun creating with Play-doh. It has been the most enjoyed activity, yet!  Normally, they begin to lose interest with an activity after about 20 minutes, but they played with the play-doh for the entire hour!  It was so quiet, I had to put on music!

They really enjoyed these fabulous play-doh mats too!

All of the above are from Prekinders! Simply, print and laminate!

I recently found a new resource...SparkleBox....a ton of playdoh mats available! The face and pie crust are from there and the spider mat is from 2 Teaching Mommies.

Messy Class: Bean Turkey

Last week at our weekly Coop's Preschool Messy Class, we created hand-print turkeys out of a variety of dry beans!

I loved the way each turkey was created uniquely different!

Mac traced her own hand and drew an adorable face and legs!

Afterward, they had time to explore the bean sensory tub.

The beans were a HUGE hit!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Messy Class: Apples

For our fourth week at our weekly Coop's Preschool Messy Class, the little ones used Elmer's glue...nuff said!

Yes, it was messy...very messy.  And, yes, there was sticky glue everywhere, which was the main reason I didn't get any action shots of them creating their adorable paper plate apple.

Mac didn't mind modeling her apple!

Messy Class: Shaving Cream Art

For our third week at our weekly Coop's Preschool Messy Class, the little ones had a blast playing in shaving cream.

I sprayed the shaving cream on the tables and they had so much fun just rubbing it around and some even drew pictures!  Super simple and super fun!

Messy Class: Bird Feeders

Last week at our weekly Coop's Preschool Messy Class, we created peanut butter pine cone bird feeders!

They all had a messy time!

Many of them ate more peanut butter than they put on their pine cone!  Everyone was rubbing the pine cone, then licking their fingers...I know, gross!  Thankfully, I don't think they ate the bird seed!

Mac was very proud to hang her bird feeder on the tree for all our backyard birds!

Messy Class: I Spy Alphabet Bottles!

This year at Coop, I'm teaching a Preschool Messy Class!  Yes, a messy class!

Our first week, we created I Spy Alphabet Bottles.

I Spy Alphabet Bottle

Mac had the best time helping me prepare the rice!

First, we read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!

I took in our sand table from home.  After the book, I dumped out all the rice in the sand table. I had numerous scoops/spoons/cups for each child to fill their empty juice bottle.  Unfortunately, the first week was a little chaotic; therefore, I wasn't able to snap any "action" shots!  I had 12 little 3/4 year olds...that's 24 hands dumping rice everywhere

After they filled their bottle, we carefully added alphabet beads, then hot-glued the lid on.

I Spy Alphabet Bottle

In addition, I created this simple Alphabet Handout (laminated) for each child to take home along with the I Spy Alphabet Bottle.

I Spy Alphabet Bottle with Handout

Shake, find and identify a letter, then cover letter on handout.

Finding and Identifying Letters

Super fun way to learn and recognize the letters of the alphabet!
