School Unit Math Activities

Here are a few math activities that Izzie completed to go along with the book, "If You Take A Mouse To School".

Another way to practice one-to-one correspondence with numbers 1-10.

Finally, dotting the teen numbers. I had her dot the first 10 spaces in one color, then we added dots (in a different color) to equal the teen number.

Sight Word "the" and "here" Activities

I'm not sure about you, but I know there are days that I could really use 36 hours in my day! I'm finding a hard time "completing" everything on my "to do" list, everyday. Thankfully, I have found some fabulous blogs, written my amazing teachers, who are extremely generous! All of the following activities were created by Fran at Kindergarten Crayons!

Izzie has been reading "If You Take A Mouse To School", so I've been trying to incorporate school-theme activities.

Her newest sight words are "the" and "here".

"Reading" the sight word "the". These can be cut and placed in a pocket chart, but for us (only one student) this works great. I simply placed each inside of a page protector and had Izzie read the 2-word sentences.

If You Take A Mouse To School and stamps!

We've been having so much fun reading all of Laura Numeroff's books! For the last few days, we've been reading "If You Take A Mouse To School".

She completed several activities with her wooden stamps (alphabet and numbers). I found these stamps at Target over the summer in the dollar aisle! All the of the following stamping activities came from Fran over at Kindergarten Crayons...AMAZING and FREE!

Storytime From A to Z: Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready For Kindergarten

We are participating in a homeschooling Coop this year. I will be teaching one kindergarten class and one high school class. I found this amazing book, Storytime From A to Z, to use for the kindergarten class.

Inside the units you'll find creative activities that build phonemic awareness, letter recognition, letter-sound relationships, listening and reading comprehension, writing skills, and other important early literacy skills. The first week of Coop, we read the book, Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready For Kindergarten.

This book was about rhyming, so we played a little game...matching each student to the correct school bus. Activity cards (buses and students) found at Kids Soup.

This handout was included in the Unit from Storytime From A to Z book.

The letter in the unit was "k", so they created this cute tissue paper letter k.

We didn't have time to complete the following activity, but Izzie enjoyed doing it at home!

An assortment of craft sticks with sound pictures, choose one, if starts with letter K sound, place in the kangaroo's pouch.

The Kissing Hand

We are participating in a homeschooling coop this year. In the kindergarten class, there will be 7 little girls. Yes! All girls! Izzie is very excited to meet all the little girls. She will be taking four different classes. To get her prepared to be in 3 classes all by herself, we've been reading, The Kissing Hand, over and over again!

We purchased Izzie a 3-ring binder with a "kissing heart" on the front and on the inside, we made her very own "kissing hand".
