AHG Christmas Celebration

Izzie had a great time at her American Heritage Girl Christmas celebration!

She really enjoyed making the Candy Cane ornaments for a local nursing home.

American Heritage Girls is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country.

Advent Days 5 and 6

The girls learned about Mary and Elizabeth while completing the Truth in the Tinsel days 5 and 6.

They placed these adorable Mary ornaments on the tree!

And, they completed a simple coloring sheet of Mary and Elizabeth.

Our silly elf, Rose Cookie, has been surprising the girls each morning in different locations throughout the house.

On day 5, they discovered her in the playroom, sleeping inside a hotdog bun!

Day 6, she was back in the playroom, hanging out with Barbie!

The girls are always so thrilled to find her!

Creation Day 6

The girls completed Day 6 for their Bible Timeline Notebook.

God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.  Genesis 1:31
The girls and I went outside to observe all the magnificent things God created.
Izzie drew God peeping through the clouds!  I love her creativity!

Mac had to draw God too!  Don't you love his smiling face!

Advent Days 3 and 4

The girls are still having a fantastic time completing the Truth in the Tinsel activity each day!

Day 3:  Zechariah

The magic of Rose Cookie is still going strong in our house!  The girls were surprised that Rose Cookie made a mess in their jewelry box!

But, they were thrilled that Rose Cookie was wearing two new Christmas necklaces, one for each of them!

Day 4: Gabriel

This particular morning, they discovered Rose Cookie playing Parcheesi with her new friends!

Yesterday was a beautiful day...70 degrees in Virginia in December NEVER happens!  We took advantage of the weather and spent the afternoon at the park with friends!

Last night, we headed to The American Shakespeare Center: Blackfriars Playhouse to see A Christmas Carol, which was fabulous!  I wasn't sure how the girls would do, but they really enjoyed the play!

"The American Shakespeare Center, situated in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, is the world's only re-creation of Shakespeare's original indoor theatre--performs Shakespeare's works under their original staging conditions-- on a simple stage, without elaborate sets, and with the audience sharing the same light as the actors."

This was our first time attending and it was amazing!  The inside was stunning!  Unfortunately, pictures weren't allowed.  After the show, once everyone had cleared out, I tried to take a picture of the inside, but was quickly greeted by an employee to put down the camera!

Thankfully, there are several pictures swirling around....here are a few....absolutely gorgeous!

We were just several rows back from the front; however, there wasn't a bad seat available!

Can't wait to go back and see another play!

Creation Day 5

The girls completed Day 5 for their Bible Timeline Notebook.

We spent several days on Day 5.  Izzie created a magnificent lapbook on sharks!

The lapbook corresponded with The Magic School Bus: The Great Shark Escape chapter book.

Most printables can be found here...I did create and add a few more pictures.

The lapbook is huge!  She had so much fun putting it together and we both learned a ton of information about sharks!
