stART: My Many Colored Days

This week Izzie is reviewing colors, so for our stART project, we read My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss. We're huge Dr. Seuss fans, but this was our first time reading this book. The use of color brings the book alive and the illustrations are very captivating. It was a nice way to talk with Izzie about her different feelings and why she feels certain ways during the day.

We each colored a little creature and described how that color makes us feel. My example was, the color blue makes me feel cool because I think about being in the ocean. Izzie decided to use the color purple, which she said made her happy because it was a pretty color. Mac joined us coloring and picked the color green. I had Izzie feel in the blank for Mac...the color green makes Mac feel grumpy. Why, grumpy? I asked. Because it's sick, she replied. The color green is sick? Yes, mama! Okay.

  5. Too cute! Green or not being sick makes me grumpy. :-) And the color purple makes me happy too.
